Qatar will build its first aluminum extrusion plant

Ebrahim AL-Neama Group and Dubai Alghurair Group have reached an agreement on the construction of the first aluminum extrusion plant in Qatar.

The aluminum extrusion plant in the Mesaieed area is the first phase of the project, which costs up to 70 million riyals and will have an annual production capacity of up to 25,000 tons. The entire project was completed in three phases with a total cost of 110 million riyals.

Company chairman Ebrahim al-Neama said yesterday that the joint venture, Gulf Aluminum Extrusion Plant, will be operating in 2008.

Al-Neama stated that the plant will be built near the QP-Norwegian joint venture Qatalum because the company plans to obtain raw materials from here. Once Qatlum has been built in the Mesaieed area, it will purchase raw materials from Dubai and Bahrain Aluminum. Majud Z Jweihan, general manager of Ebrahim AL-Neama, said that the factory will have a construction area of 60,000 square meters and will be equipped with Germany's most advanced machinery.

He also stated that due to Qatar's large demand for aluminum extrusions, the factory's products were mainly used to meet the local market in the early stages of operation.

Jweihan said, "It is estimated that the annual demand for aluminum extrusions in the Qatar region is about 20,000 tons, and it is increasing year by year."

He said that the cooperation with ALghurair is very important because ALghurair is very professional and has extensive experience in the aluminum extrusion industry.

The Gulf Extrusion Plant belongs to the Alghurair Group and is one of the largest aluminum extrusion plants in the Gulf region, with high quality products and more than 30 years of production experience.

Jweihan also stated that the excavation work in the Mesaieed area is being accelerated. The aluminum extrusion plant construction project will begin in September.
