About bolts:

Bolt strength:

Bolt performance grades are divided into more than 10 grades of 3.6, 4.6, 4.8, 5.6, 6.8, 8.8, 9.8, 10.9, 12.9, etc., ordinary bolts below 8.8, high strength bolts of grade 8.8 and above. High-strength bolts are made of low carbon alloy steel or medium carbon steel and are heat treated. The two-part number indicating the bolt performance grade number indicates the nominal tensile strength value and the yield ratio of the bolt material.

Example of strength performance:

Bolts of class 4.8: The nominal tensile strength of bolt material is up to 400 MPa; the ratio of yield strength to tensile strength of bolt material is 0.8; the nominal yield strength of bolt material is 400×0.8=320 MPa.

10.9 high-strength bolt: its material is heat treated; the nominal tensile strength of bolt material is 1000MPa; the ratio of yield strength to tensile strength of bolt material is 0.9; the nominal yield strength of bolt material is 1000×0.9=900MPa.

Bolt performance grade is an international standard. Bolts of the same performance grade, regardless of their material and origin, have the same performance. Only the performance grade can be selected.

Motor bolt selection principle:

High-strength bolts are used more and more widely. They are mainly used in some projects such as outdoor engineering, wind power or dynamic machinery. The tensile strength is relatively large. Motor products are active machinery. At least 8.8. class strength bolts should be selected. The bolt strength used for vertical motors should not be less than 10.9.

Ordinary bolts are used in some small motors, mainly depending on the application environment and operation mode. For special environment motors, in addition to the strength of the bolts, other properties of the bolts, such as rust and corrosion protection requirements, should also be considered.
