The National Oceanic Studies Centre of the United Kingdom is preparing to launch the newly developed "C-Enduro" series of unmanned surface boats for the implementation of marine animal research missions on the Celtic Sea. The "C-Enduro" unmanned boat concept developed by the UK's autonomous surface vehicle company refers to the surface unmanned boat that integrates three kinds of power systems, including solar-powered windsurfing, wind power generators and light-diesel generators.
Prof. Russell Wynn, Project Coordinator, said, “The Celtic Sea is an active site for iconic fast-moving marine animals such as fin whales. However, we still need to make more observations in more areas to understand why. This sea area is so attractive to these marine animals. No long-time navigational watercraft gave us the ability to continuously observe in these sea areas, and is expected to change the way we conduct scientific studies on the marine environment."
The "C-Enduro" sleeping unmanned boat developed by the UK's autonomous watercraft company weighs only 350 kg and integrates three types of power systems: solar windsurfing, wind turbines and light diesel generators. It was built on August 20 in the town of Wales. The town of Milford, Milford, carried out scientific research missions, loaded with GoPro cameras, marine mammal sound detectors and a weather station. With multiple power systems, it can stay at sea for up to three months, can sail at seven knots and perform scientific missions. And its carbon fiber hull can be self-righting, not afraid of subversive sea waves.
