New technology can convert carbon dioxide into natural gas

The British scientific team led by Spanish expert Mercedes Maroto Baler invented a technology that converts carbon dioxide (CO2) into natural gas. This technology is the result of an expert's research in the Center for Carbon Capture and Storage Technology Innovation at the University of Nottingham, UK. The center has invented several technologies to collect CO2 released from high-polluting industries such as thermal power plants, cement plants, and oil refineries, and store them in abandoned oil or gas wells, carbon mines, or geological deposits. However, this method of “hiding” CO2 underground has reduced the CO2 content in the atmosphere, but some people are also concerned about this because it is not yet clear what the maximum storage period of CO2 is, and once they are released on a large scale, it will cause Serious environmental consequences. Therefore, scientists have used a process similar to photosynthesis in plants to invent technologies that convert CO2 into natural gas, the main component of natural gas. Plants convert CO2, water and sunlight into sugar, and the technology uses these three substances to synthesize biogas instead of carbohydrates. Marroto-Barilla said that if this technology is used worldwide, it will bring about a perfect energy cycle.
