From January to March 2011, timber from Siberia exported 653.9 million U.S. dollars, accounting for 9.7% of the total value of timber exports in all regions of Russia. Compared with January-March 2010, timber exports increased by 28%. Of the total timber exports in the Siberian region, 40% are unprocessed wood, and the remaining 60% are processed wood.
In the jurisdiction of the Siberian Customs Authority, the export volume of unprocessed timber was 2.73 million cubic meters, and the export value was 261.6 million US dollars. Compared with January-March 2010, the quantity increased by 23.9% and the value increased by 31.9%. The export volume of processed timber was 1.4287 million tons, and the export value was 392.3 million US dollars, an increase of 34.5% and 25.5% year-on-year respectively.
The timber of the Siberian region was exported to 47 countries. Among them, exports to China, Japan, Egypt, Germany, Afghanistan, and Syria accounted for 86.5% of the timber value of the Commonwealth of Independent States, and exports to the Commonwealth of Independent States were mainly Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, and Kyrgyzstan. It accounts for 13.5%. Compared with January-March 2010, the total value of timber exported to countries other than the Commonwealth of Independent States increased by 25.7% to US$565.3 million, and the total value of timber exported to the Commonwealth of Independent States countries was 45.3%, which was US$88.6 million.
In the jurisdiction of the Siberian Customs Authority, the procedures for the export of timber are mainly focused on Irkutsk customs, Krasnoyarsk customs, Bratsk customs, Altai customs, Buryatia customs, Tomsk customs And Chita Customs. Compared with January-March 2010, except for Chita Customs, the value of timber exports from customs in other regions has increased.
